LA CUEVA AND ACADEMY CROWNED FIRST METRO CHAMPIONS IN CROSS COUNTRY
This past weekend at the Albuquerque Academy Cross Country course, the girls team Champion was the La Cueva Bears and the boys team Champion was the Academy Chargers. Congratulations to all the runners who braved the strong wind and cold temperatures Saturday morning. Thanks to all the spectators who came out and braved the elements as well. ST PIUS X CROWNED FIRST METRO VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS
The Championship game was played Saturday night at Cibola High School gymnasium where the two finalists played a grueling 5 game match to determine the winner in the first annual ALBUQUERQUE METRO VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS presented by the APS Athletic Department. In the end, the team from ST. PIUS X beat the BEARS of LA CUEVA 3 games to 2. Congratulations to the lady Sartans.

LCHS BEARS BECOME FIRST METRO CHAMPIONS IN GIRLS SOCCER
The Championship game in the gold bracket was played Friday night and saw the La Cueva Bears beat the Eldorado Eagles 3-0 in the first ever APS Athletics Metro Championships in Soccer. La Cueva High School will now house the spectacular traveling trophy until someone else tries to take it away next year. Each lady will also be sporting a royal blue t-shirt that are only presented to the champions of each APS Metro Event. Thanks to everyone who came out and saw the game at the Soccer Complex.

EHS EAGLES BECOME FIRST METRO CHAMPIONS IN BOYS SOCCER
The Championship game in the gold bracket was played Friday night and saw the Eldorado Eagles beat the St. Pius X Sartans 3-1 in the first ever APS Athletics Metro Championships in Soccer. Eldorado High School will now house the spectacular traveling trophy until someone else tries to take it away next year. Each young man will also be sporting a royal blue t-shirt that are only presented to the champions of each APS Metro Event. Thanks to everyone who came out and saw the game at the Soccer Complex.

08-09 APS Physical Exam Dates

The METRO CHAMPIONSHIPS are coming...Will you be ready? The birth of the METRO CHAMPIONSHIPS will begin in 08-09 with the inaugural METRO CHAMPIONSHIP in boys and girls Soccer. The excitement is building, start preparing yourself today!
Last weekend several APS teams were victorious in the first round of the playoffs. Friday night, La Cueva beat Alamogordo 38-0 and will travel this weekend to take on the Mayfield Trojans. Saturday afternoon, Sandia beat Hobbs 38-7 and will play in Clovis Friday night. Saturday night, Manzano beat Cibola 31-23 and will now travel to take on the Las Cruces Bulldogs. The Eldorado Eagles who were seeded #2 got a bye last weekend and will host the Rio Rancho Rams at Wilson Stadium this Saturday at 1:00pm. Good luck to every APS team still in it and fighting for that blue trophy.

CONGRATULATIONS TO 5A GIRLS STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONS SANDIA HIGH SCHOOL.
Pool play begins this Wednesday on the 12th with bracket play to follow thru the 15th. 6 APS schools have made the playoffs with Del Norte making the 4A pool. La Cueva, Sandia, Manzano, Eldorado and Cibola all made it in the 5A selection process. Head to www.nmact.org to access brackets and other information.
